El Dorado is a brand produced by Demerara Distillers in Guyana. Guyana’s aging process is thought to have increased considerably due to high humidity and constant temperature- resulting in an 8-year-old rum, for example, with a maturity that is claimed to be equal to that of a 16-year-old produced in lower temperature. El Dorado Port Mourant 1997 is a rum that boasts a 20-year maturation in barrels previously used for bourbon. Ingredients, barrel properties and climatic conditions; all make their mark on the personality of this rum that develops fabulous notes of dried fruit; vanilla and anise, complemented by the special aroma of caramel, dark chocolate and licorice.
