Henri Bourgeois Petit Clos Sauvignon Blanc What is this Petit Clos Petit Clos is a selection of grapes from the youngest vines. We wanted to design a charismatic, round Sauvignon Blanc. This wine is a mixture from 3 different soil types: Wither clay, Broadbridge clay, Greywacke stone. Rigorous selection and great attention to detail continue in the winery to best illustrate the qualities of the Clos Henri terroir. High plant density: 4400-6000 vines / ha. Yield: 3-7t / ha (54hl / ha) According to the French tradition, the plants are grown with a high density (double the average in New Zealand)), and combinesd with a low yield a better positioning is obtained of fruit and better management of the vineyard. In addition, due to the windy days specific to the area, a good aeration of the vineyard is obtained. The young vines are located on clay and gravel soils at the intersection of the Waihopai and Wairau rivers. Then it is aged with fine yeast for 6 months. During this time the yeasts are mixed to allow the wine to stabilize naturally. Thus, only a refining of it is needed before a slight filtration. Also, this process gives roundness and body to the wine. Bouquet: a welcoming and fine hint of citrus (lime, grapefruit) and golden kiwi nose. Taste: fresh, well balanced and round in taste offering a rich, dominated by the dense and juicy mouthfeel of exotic fruits, with a pleasant mineral note.
