Jose Cuervo Especial Gold 1L Jose Cuervo Especial Gold owes its first place in the world of sales of the mixture of young tequila and tequila reposado. Although it is a mix, it is said to be the best tequila for Margaritas. The best blue agaves are harvested by hand after being in the Mexican sun for at least 7 years to create Jose Cuervo tequila. Especial Gold is matured for 6 months in burnt oak barrels. Jose Cuervo is the oldest tequila in the world. It has its origins in the small town of Tequila in the Jalisco region. In 1758, José Antonio de Cuervo received land in Mexico from the King of Spain to cultivate agave. This is a cactus-like plant from which tequila is made. 37 years later, the Cuervo family began for the first time in the world the commercial production of tequila in the city of the same name. The distillery was called Fabrica La Rojeña. It is the oldest in Latin America. Today, tequila also comes from the fertile volcanic soil where José Antonio cultivated agave in the 18th century, and his direct descendants still run the business.
