Alpha Estate Alpha Axia 6 x 750ml Vine cultivator: Makis Mavridis. Winemaker: Angelos Iatridis. Varietal composition: Xinomavro 50%, Syrah 50% . Location: “Petres” and “Dromos” subregions (“Drum”). Amyndeon Plateau. Vineyard: 85 ha of linear, private vineyard, located at an altitude of 620-710 m. Vineyard designated for specific wine: 73.8 ha. Sandy soil – sandy clay soil with excellent drainage. Climate: semi-continental with heavy rainfall, lots of snow in winter. Fresh summers, quite dry, with cool nights. Northwest winds for a year. Absence of spring frost. Manual harvesting in small harvesting boxes. Winning method: removal, light crushing, cold soaking – skin contact, alcoholic fermentation at gradually increased temperature, keeping the wine “sur lie” for seven months with regular stirring. Aging: twelve months in oak barrels. Color: splendid red, purple. Bouquet: complex, typical of spices (vanilla, pepper, cloves), with notes of ripe blackberries. Taste: solid, with vanilla flavor, rounded tannins, balanced acidity and wood tones. Long aftertaste with intense quince aroma. Awards: 2019-Robinson 16.5p
