General comments: Douloufakis Dafnios Liatiko is a dry red wine, made 100% from the Liatiko grape variety. This variety once had a special importance for Cretan winemakers, dating from the Middle Ages. Currently, however, only a few producers make wines from Liatiko. The producer, the Douloufakis family, has been dedicated to wine production since the 1930s. The traditions and philosophy of winemaking have been highly preserved and passed on. The winery has vineyards located on hill slopes at an altitude of 350 meters in Daphne. The wine comes from the Daphne area, near Heraklion (Crete), 350 meters above sea level. The indigenous variety Liatiko is found mainly in Daphne and offers dry wines, but can also be used in sweet dry sweet wines. Category: Protected Designation of Origin “Daphne” . Features: A beautiful pale ruby ​​color with garnet and orange border. On the nose, ripe red fruits such as strawberries and cherries, with notes of toast, sweet cinnamon and caramel – hints of oak barrels. On the palate it is tasty and spicy, with a good acidity and exceptional tannins. An elegant release of alcohol and a relatively long finish, equating the tobacco note.
