Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia was founded in 2004, being a Spanish-French joint venture between Tempos Vega Sicilia and Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild. The two producers were attracted by the idea of producing great wines in Rioja, the famous wine region of the Basque Country, considered truly unique, singular and inimitable. After five years of evaluating the terroir and buying 92 ha of vineyards, the project came to life in 2009, with the first edition of the two wines: Macán and Macán Clásico. Following the Bordeaux model, with a great wine (Macán) and a second label (Macán Clásico), the producers set out to offer a modern and unique vision of the Rioja region. Macán is the flagship wine of the domain. Fermented in French oak barrels. Matured 16 -18 months in extra-fine oak barrels and then at least three years in glass. 94 Parker Points 94 James Suckling Points Color: dark red-purple Bouquet: intense, black plum and chocolate Taste: fine, delicate and elegant, with chocolate and plum attack, fleshy, with rich, fine and well-integrated tannins; mineral finish, structured, long and persistent Culinary combinations: prepared with beef, veal or lamb sauce, matured cheeses, chocolate desserts Serving temperature 18 ° C Number of bottle produced: 66,085 regular bottle, 2,042 Magnum, 86 Double Magnum, 25 Imperial
